Planning for the Future:
Remembrances and Bequests
- A
message from
Patty Starkey
Executive Director, Friends of Seven
A few
months ago, we received word that a woman has passed away and left
the Friends of Seven a wonderful bequest of over $40,000. A short
time later, another call came in and a husband and wife had
included us in both their wills — bequests of over $60,000. In
looking back at their membership accounts, two things were
similar: they both had been members of the Friends of Seven for
many years; and they both were modest contributors. But they both
obviously loved the station and wanted to help insure its future.
I will
announce both the names on these bequests when I am allowed to do
so; we want you to know of these generous friends’ final wish of
good fortune to the future of this station. But, in the meantime,
I just had to share the good news with you.
If you
are interested in including us as part of your planned giving
preparations, please let me know and I will send out a couple of
little pamphlets for your information. When I hear the news from
an attorney about one of these gifts, I KNOW we are on the right
path of fulfilling our mission….and it isn’t about money…it
is about making a difference in someone’s life. When you sit
down to make your last will and testament and you think of Public
Television…that means we are doing OUR job!
Sincerely,
Patty Starkey
